Our Story
Julia has always had an eye for unique vintage items. As a child, she would roam the flea markets with her parents and collect interesting things and had a certain affinity for small trinket boxes. Her mom and dad were home improvement experts before the term became popular. One adventure included restoring a 200-year-old Farm House.
After a career in nonprofit marketing and raising her children, Julia went back to school to earn a degree in home decorating. She has worked designing new homes, restoration, and project-specific updates kitchens and bathrooms particularly.
The challenge of designing an esthetically pleasing space and adhering to good form and function is something she enjoys. Julia considers designing like building a canvas layering personal items with new old and collected antiques and vintage pieces. After acquiring a vintage 1949 Ocean Front Florida Bungalow In 2012, she immersed herself in the concept of coastal casual. A collected style adding layers spanning high and low with a little age and many textures. The basis of the design philosophy is calming colors watery blues, greens ,and muddy neutrals combined with classic and timeless elements. Creating a living environment as if it had been collected while traveling the world. The coastal world oceans, marshes, islands and rivers. Nothing is too precious but seems to be cared for by generations.
Julia now lives in Central East Coast Florida and enjoys sharing her river home with family and friends. Her new venture Julia Hill Studio gives her the space to create and bring her treasures to fellow vintage enthusiasts.
